The Supreme Court had   commuted the death sentence of Murugan(Husband of Nalini) , Santhan  and A G Perarivalan on the ground of 11 years delay in considering their mercy pleas by the Centre on tuesday 18.02.2014 . In addition to this, Nalini, Robert Pyas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran  are undergoing life sentence.Tamil Nadu government today decided to set free within three days all the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case .Nalini, Perarivalan and Ravichandran are Indian citizens.Murugan, Santhan, Robert Payas and Jeyakumar  are Sri Lankan Tamils.Nalini had married Murugan at Tirupathi just before their arrest in June 1991.Nalini’s daughter Megara was born in Vellore jail on January 21, 1992, when her mother was awaiting trial in the Rajiv case.
